AGLOBIS announces that the Extended Basic Engineering phase for its sulphur remelter project in Duisburg, Germany, was successfully completed in December 2025. This milestone represents a major step forward in the development of a long-term molten sulphur solution for Western Europe.
In parallel with the completion of Extended Basic Engineering, AGLOBIS secured the utilities required for reliable site operations—including power, gas, and water—and carried out essential investigations such as geotechnical surveys and soil analyses. The basic plant design has also been finalized, defining the overall layout and key interfaces including the 3 modal logistic concepts, acting as a sulphur hub in the heart of the Ruhr region.
At the same time, the comprehensive planning of the support processes (inbound logistics, energy supply, and office buildings) was finalized.
Although the European chemical industry continues to face a challenging environment, Western Europe’s sulphur market remains structurally tight. AGLOBIS is fully committed to advancing this project and delivering a robust, long-term solution that supports a reliable supply for the region’s chemical industry.
